Way back down in the declension of 1896, coach A.W. Jeardeau's LSU eleven posted a unadulterated 6-0-0 record, and it was in that pigskin military campaign that LSU opening adoptive its bynam, Tigers.

Colors : Purple and Gold
There is or s discrepancy in the origin of Reddish purple and Gray-haired Gold as LSU's official colours.
Information technology is believed that those colors were worn for the first time by an LSU team in the saltation of 1893 when the LSU baseball squad flap Tulane in the first intercollegiate contest played in some sportswoman by Louisiana State University.
